Amanda, you’re known for your expertise in hunting across the vast Canadian wilderness. How does your passion for the outdoors extend to fishing, and what draws you to places like Wolf Lake Wilderness Lodge for a change of scenery?

What drives me to Wolf Lake is actually the owner, how he represents his lodge, where he comes from, his story and his family is very important.”

“How I came into fishing is it was just a part of our lifestyle. It was how I grew up, the same with hunting. My dad hunted and my mom fished and fishing is easy to get people introduced into the outdoors. I have a program called “take me fishing” and that is what we are actually going to be doing when we visit the Yukon in July. I have two girls that I am taking out fishing.”

In the realm of hunting and television, you’ve undoubtedly faced numerous challenges. How does the thrill of the hunt compare to the anticipation of reeling in a big catch while fishing?

It’s actually probably more exciting when you catch a fish because you don’t know what it is until you get it to the surface.”

“When you are out there hunting and you have your eye on a bear, deer, or an elk you physically see it before you pull the tripper or your bow. With fishing, you don’t even know what you are pulling up half the time which adds to the excitement.”
